A TRIBUTE TO OUR CELESTIAL COMPANION

The Artemis II mission has taken humanity back to the Moon after more than half a century. My generation only heard about the glorious Apollo program, but watching something so profound unfold right before our eyes is immensely inspiring. I knew I had to commemorate this moment, and what better way than to pay an homage to the Moon and the Artemis II mission.

On the night when the Orion spacecraft initiated the Trans-Lunar Injection burn, I captured this highly detailed image of the full Moon of April using my home-made telescope. It was high up in the sky from my location, and I was able to capture some good data that night, in spite of having some close calls with the clouds.

THE EFFORT AND THE RESULT

I wanted to capture the Orion spacecraft, but my location and equipment were not suited for that. So, I went for the artistic route and made a 3D model of the spacecraft, which I rendered and composited into this poster. The Earth in this image is also painted in, as I do live on its surface and am not tagging along with the Artemis crew.

DETAILS THAT ARE OUT OF THIS WORLD. LITERELLY!

I captured the full face of the moon in 8 segments. For each segment I captured 3000 frames. So reveal the mineral colors of the moon, I used a different camera and captured 200 raw exposures.

I'm very happy with the result, and I don't know about you, but this poster will always remind me of the excitement and rush I felt while watching history unfold right in front of me. I hope you enjoy it too.

  • His lunar photography is absolutely stunning! I love seeing the composites he creates from his home made telescope/camera! His digital wallpapers are phenomenal quality, perfectly cropped versions for phone, tablet, and desktop of so many of his shots! Amazing value. I purchased "Golden Hour" from his first print sale and couldn't be happier with the quality and vibrancy - the framing and shipping were very well handled!

  • I'm the very proud owner of one of Zubuyer's Super Flower Moon prints. The tone and attention to detail in his customer interactions - from order through to delivery and afterwards - is lovely. I'm a huge selenophile and I adore my print as a reflection of my love and respect for the moon!
